With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose.
— Wayne W. Dyer

Brothers & Sisters,

The reality is we're all given many gifts when we enter this world and one of them is the gift of choice. I woulda argue that there is nothing more important than choice when you've failed at something. Here and now you're given the opportunity to turn that failure into something positive or just sit there and feel sorry for yourself. I'll give you a hint: you shouldn't be doing the latter.

No one ever got anywhere sitting around feeling bad about the things they've failed at. The successful people in this world have all learned that you need to get back and keep on moving. We've talked about this a lot here on this site and the topic keeps coming back up as I travel through my days. Making a conscious effort to just live a better life is a major step on this journey we're all on. Why would anyone want to live a life as a downer and someone who just exudes unhappiness? I'm unsure as I've found that happiness is a drug that I can't get enough of. Smiling is toxic in the best of ways and I love it.

But at the end of the day, it's my choice to be a happy human being and not someone carrying around an empty ice cream cone looking for someone to feel bad for me. Again, it's my choice. And I hope that it inspires those around me to smile a little more because truth be told life really isn't all that bad and it really is what you make of it. If you go in search of disaster, it'll find you. If you search for happiness and joy it's not very far off and you'll always find it.

Make the choice, do what makes you happy, what gives you life, what gives you energy and watch how contagious it becomes to people around you.
