Brothers & Sisters,
And through the smoke I see you from afar holding a light, guiding my way. Every time I feel like I get closer you move just a little further away. Like a child being kept from a surprise their parent has for them I get frustrated.
"Stop!" I should at the top of my lungs, but you keep moving down the path as I trip, stumble and claw my way to where you are.
Bloodied, sweating, crying, feeling defeated I stop and fall to my knees with my head in my hands feeling lost. You're there with a hand outstretched to pick me up and keep me safe.
It's then that I realize you never left me, you've always been there and while my knees might be skinned and my ego bruised, my soul is intact and so is my love for you.
You're my everything, and I'm yours.
