God didn't promise smooth sailing

From time to time we might find ourselves caught in the storm of life and crying out to God and asking Him why. Truth be told God places trials in front of us to strengthen us and make us concrete in our faith and beliefs. We must be tested in order to realize how deep our faith really goes. So weather the storm my friends. God will be right there with you.

Everything that you do...

I stumbled across this video tonight when contemplating what I wanted to write about. After watching it I decided that it’d be the perfect thing to share with all of you on this beautiful Saturday night. If you had a rough week and are spending the weekend decompressing this might be a good bridge from your Saturday to your Sunday. Enjoy!

A Psalm of Life

Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!—
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.

Life is real! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.

3 Minutes

Take 3 minutes out of your busy day and listen to the always wonderful Alan Watts talk about choice and making decisions. I truly enjoy the way Mr. Watts speaks to his audience. It’s down to earth, makes sense, comedic and intelligent. So treat yourself to 3 minutes that might change how you view the way you make choices every day.

Inspiration: Who is the real you?

In this video you'll find some beautifully stitched together clips from interviews with Jim Carrey. Beyond the comedian Jim is a deep thinker who's been through quite a bit in his life. Through all the ups and downs Jim always moved through life making sure he was constantly aware of what was going on with the entire experience that life is.

Doubts, fears, success, love, hope & dreams. We're going to encounter these things all through our life and it's how we carry ourselves through those events that mold who we are. Enjoy.

Inspiration: Falling Upward

If you've read any of my posts I'm sure you've seen me mention Fr. Richard Rohr. He's been an inspiration to me and my faith over the past 8 months or so and I like sharing and talking about him whenever I can. Below you'll find one of my favorite talks he's given. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and I hope it makes you think about life and faith in a deeper more spiritual way.

Inspiration: Eckhart Tolle

Enjoy this selection of Eckhart Tolle and the Journey into the Now. This is quite possibly one of the best talks he's ever given and it starts off blowing your mind and keeps it going for the entire 35 minutes of the talk. Eckhart is an impressive, mentally deep, thoughtful human being with a great sense of humor. He has a way with the crowd and exudes this amazing magnetism. Enjoy my friends, I know I did.

I'm grateful that you were in my life and gave me a chance. If I blew that chance and hurt you I'm forever sorry and hope that when we meet again you'll forgive me. If I made you smile you should know that seeing your smile made my one hundred times happier.

And when you're thinking of me know that I'm always with you walking alongside you through the thick and thin. Don't cry because I'm not here anymore, because I still am. Remember all of the times, not just the good but also remember how we got through the rough times. For it is all the times that made up our time together and that's what is important.

Inspiration: Repentance & Church Reform

Father Mike Schmitz does a good job summing up a lot of what I've been thinking as of late. I was pretty relieved to see this video posted by Ascension Press yesterday and have watched at least half a dozen times already. There's a lot to unpack with what is going on with the church right now and I'm really happy there are people making content that helps do that.
